U.S. Marks 250th Birthday in Cambodia With Launch of Founders Museum

PHNOM PENH, June 16, 2026 (KPT) — The United States Embassy in Phnom Penh has launched the Freedom 250 Founders Museum, an interactive exhibition celebrating the 250th anniversary of American independence and highlighting the enduring relationship between Cambodia and the United States.

The exhibition was opened Tuesday by U.S. Chargé d’Affaires Benjamin Chiang at AmCam Exchange in Exchange Square Mall, joined by Post and Telecommunications Minister Chea Vandeth and representatives from the culture and education ministries.

Part of the White House’s Freedom 250 initiative, the museum offers visitors an immersive journey through American history, showcasing founding principles, key figures and milestones. Using QR codes, audiences can access animated first‑person narratives from iconic leaders and innovators.

“This exhibit offers a unique, engaging way for Cambodian audiences to explore the people and ideas that shaped the United States,” Chiang said, calling it a core pillar of the Freedom 250 celebrations.

Chea Vandeth welcomed the initiative, stressing the importance of U.S.–Cambodia cooperation in digital skills, innovation, cybersecurity and emerging technologies.

The exhibition will remain in Phnom Penh until June 29 before traveling to American Corners in Siem Reap, Battambang and Kampong Cham.

The launch reinforces people‑to‑people ties as both countries build on more than seven decades of diplomatic relations, following the 75th anniversary of their partnership in late 2025.
