BEIJING, June 30, 2026 (KPT) – Cambodia’s Deputy Prime Minister Sun Chanthol has called on China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) to broaden its investment portfolio in Cambodia, moving beyond transport infrastructure into high-value industries that can drive growth and create jobs, officials said.

Chanthol made the appeal during talks in Beijing with CCECC President Wang Xiangdong, accompanied by Public Works Minister Peng Ponea. Wang outlined the company’s global expertise in delivering large-scale projects such as bridges, highways, railways, airports and industrial parks, and updated the delegation on feasibility studies for Cambodian transport projects expected to conclude soon.

Chanthol welcomed CCECC’s continued role in modernising Cambodia’s transport system but pressed for broader investment in priority sectors under the government’s Pentagonal Strategy. He said ventures in high value-added industries would strengthen competitiveness, accelerate industrial diversification and generate employment opportunities for Cambodian citizens.

The Deputy Prime Minister stressed Cambodia’s focus on attracting quality foreign direct investment that supports sustainable development and long-term industrial transformation. He noted that CCECC’s global track record positions the company to contribute to Cambodia’s next phase of growth.

The meeting underscored Phnom Penh’s efforts to deepen economic cooperation with China, its largest trading partner and investor, while steering investment toward sectors that align with Vision 2050. CCECC has been involved in numerous projects worldwide and continues to play an active role in supporting connectivity and development initiatives across Asia, Africa and other regions.
