King to return home after medical treatment in Beijing

BEIJING, June 30, 2026 (KPT) – Cambodia’s King Norodom Sihamoni is set to return home this week after more than three months of medical treatment and recovery in Beijing, the Ministry of the Royal Palace announced Tuesday.
The ministry said the monarch underwent surgery before receiving treatment and close monitoring at the Royal Residence in Beijing, supported by Chinese officials and medical staff.
His condition has steadily improved, enabling him to continue medical examinations and healthcare in Phnom Penh under the supervision of the Royal Palace’s medical team, in line with recommendations from doctors in Beijing.
King Sihamoni and Queen Mother Norodom Monineath Sihanouk will resume residence at the Royal Palace upon their return.
The Royal Palace expressed gratitude to Cambodia’s Buddhist patriarchs, senior monks, national leaders, officials and citizens for their prayers and well wishes during the King’s recovery.
Senate spokesperson Chea Thyrith said the King was in very good health after successful treatment for prostate cancer by Chinese doctors.
He confirmed that the King and Queen Mother are expected to arrive in Cambodia this week, underscoring the monarch’s resilience and the close medical cooperation between Cambodia and China.
