PHNOM PENH, July 3, 2026 (KPT) – The Philippines has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening ties with Cambodia and supporting efforts to ease border tensions, as outgoing ambassador Flerida Ann Camille P. Mayo paid a farewell call on Prime Minister Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet.

During the July 2 meeting at the Peace Palace, Mayo praised Cambodia’s development and welcomed what she described as the steady growth of bilateral relations.

She highlighted cooperation in trade, education, vocational training, agriculture, culture, defence and security, and noted joint efforts to combat cyber scams and technology‑enabled fraud.

Mayo said the ASEAN Observer Team, led by the Philippines, would continue its mission with transparency and impartiality. She also pointed to the upcoming 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2027 as an opportunity to deepen cooperation further.

Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet thanked Mayo for her contribution to strengthening ties during her tenure and said there was significant potential to expand cooperation, particularly in agriculture and tourism.

He welcomed the Philippines’ role as ASEAN chair in supporting efforts to address the Cambodia‑Thailand border issue.

According to the Cambodian government, Samdech Thipadei briefed the ambassador on recent developments along the frontier and reiterated Cambodia’s position that outstanding disputes must be resolved peacefully under international law and existing bilateral agreements.

The farewell meeting underscored the growing partnership between the two countries, with both sides expressing confidence that relations will continue to expand across multiple sectors in the years ahead.
