King Norodom Sihamoni and Queen Mother Arrive in Cambodia After His Medical Treatment in Beijing

PHNOM PENH, July 3, 2026 (KPT) – Cambodia’s King Norodom Sihamoni and Queen Mother Norodom Monineath Sihanouk returned to Phnom Penh this evening after more than three months of medical treatment and recovery in Beijing, China.
The King had undergone surgery and continued specialized care at a royal residence in Beijing, where he was attended by Chinese medical experts and officials.
His treatment highlighted the close cooperation between Cambodia and China in the field of healthcare, with Beijing providing extensive support during the royal recovery.
According to the Ministry of the Royal Palace, His Majesty’s condition steadily improved throughout the treatment period.
Doctors confirmed that the King is now in good health and able to resume his duties. Upon arrival, King Sihamoni and Queen Mother Monineath are expected to return to residence at the Royal Palace, where they will continue recovery and gradually resume royal responsibilities at a measured pace.

The Royal Palace expressed deep gratitude to Buddhist patriarchs, senior monks, government leaders, officials, and citizens across the country for their prayers and support during the King’s treatment. The statement emphasized the unity and devotion of Cambodians toward their monarch.
Senate spokesperson Chea Thyrith confirmed that the King had responded very well to treatment for prostate cancer provided by Chinese doctors.
He described the recovery as a testament to both the success of modern medical care and the King’s personal resilience, noting that the monarch’s return marks a moment of relief and celebration for the nation.
