PHNOM PENH, July 13, 2026 (KPT) – Cambodia and France have agreed to advance several priority cooperation projects, including a Cambodia–France University Hospital, a waste‑to‑energy conversion scheme and a hydropower energy storage project, officials said Monday.

The discussions were held between Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Aun Pornmoniroth and Nicolas Forissier, France’s Minister Delegate attached to the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs last week, according to a government press release.

Both sides pledged close coordination among relevant institutions to accelerate preparation and implementation of the projects in line with Cambodian laws and policy priorities. They also agreed to explore suitable financing mechanisms to ensure sustainable outcomes.

The two ministers discussed strengthening economic and trade cooperation by promoting investment, facilitating business links, encouraging private sector participation and supporting Cambodian products in accessing international markets.

Forissier reaffirmed France’s commitment to expanding cooperation with Cambodia in trade, investment, infrastructure, energy, healthcare and sustainable development. The press release said the cooperation aims to support economic growth and resilience amid shifting global conditions.

Aun Pornmoniroth expressed appreciation for France’s long‑standing friendship and contributions to Cambodia’s peace process, reconstruction and socio‑economic development. Through the French Development Agency, France has continued to provide official development assistance across sectors including agriculture, clean water, vocational training, energy, rural development, healthcare, culture, environment, tourism, education and microfinance.
