Major Chinese companies expand investment plans in Cambodia during PM’s China visit
BEIJING, July 16, 2026 (KPT) – Several leading Chinese companies announced plans to expand or explore new investments in Cambodia across infrastructure, energy, manufacturing, artificial intelligence (AI), agriculture and digital technology during separate meetings with Prime Minister Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet in Beijing on July 15.
The meetings, held during the Prime Minister’s official visit to China and participation in the 2026 World AI Conference, underscored Cambodia’s push to attract high-quality foreign investment.

China Railway Construction Corporation (CRCC) said it plans to expand investment in transport and digital infrastructure, renewable energy and integrated projects. China Energy International announced diversification into cement production, clean water treatment and renewable energy. Samdech Thipadei reaffirmed that transport infrastructure and clean energy remain government priorities, noting Cambodia aims to raise renewable energy’s share of electricity generation from 62 percent to 70 percent by 2030.
The Shandong (Cambodia) Economic and Technological Development Zone expressed interest in renewable energy expansion, while Yuanda Group is exploring opportunities in education, agriculture and digital technology. Beijing Star AI is studying AI investment prospects, including an ASEAN regional intelligent computing center and research facilities. Fujian Jinlu Daily Chemical plans to establish a household products plant, while China Machinery Engineering Corporation (CMEC) reaffirmed commitments in energy and agriculture.
Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet welcomed the investment plans, encouraging companies to work closely with relevant ministries to translate proposals into concrete projects. He reiterated the Royal Government’s support for investors and sustainable economic development.
