Cambodia, China Sign $35M Cashew Export Deal, Eye $400M Expansion
PHNOM PENH, March 12, 2026 (KPT) — Cambodia and China have signed an agreement to export Cambodian cashew nuts worth $35 million, with plans to expand the trade to $400 million, officials said Thursday.
Samheng Bora, Secretary of State and Chairman of the Export Promotion Task Force (EPTF), met with Jiang Xiaofei, Director of the Overseas Enterprise Expansion Working Committee of the China Institute for Innovation and Development Strategy (CIIDS).

The meeting was attended by representatives from China Bonded Port Group, Men Sarun MDR, and officials from Cambodia’s Ministry of Commerce. Discussions focused on strengthening economic and investment ties, boosting agricultural exports, and developing the agro-industry value chain.
Bora witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the “Supply Contract of Cambodian Cashew Nuts” between China Bonded Port Group and Men Sarun MDR. Under the deal, Cambodia will initially export in-shell cashew nuts (M23 type) valued at $35 million, with exports expected to gradually expand to $400 million.
Officials said the agreement reflects efforts by the Export Promotion Task Force to connect Cambodian producers with international buyers and expand access to the Chinese market. The cooperation is expected to support the growth of Cambodia’s cashew industry and attract more Chinese investment into the agricultural sector.
