KRATIE, Cambodia, Mar. 10, 2026 (KPT) — Cambodia will host the 10th edition of its annual River Festival in Kratie later this month, showcasing the province’s tourism potential along the Mekong River while promoting sustainable development of river-based communities, officials said Tuesday.

The festival, set for March 27–29, will be held under the theme “Green River, Great Cultural and Natural Heritage.”

Tourism Minister Huot Hak, who chairs the inter-ministerial organizing committee, led an inspection of riverside sites in Kratie where activities will take place. He was joined by provincial governor Va Thorn and other officials to review preparations for welcoming visitors from across Cambodia and abroad.

According to the Tourism Ministry, the festival will feature exhibitions of local products, traditional performances, sports competitions and entertainment programs aimed at attracting both domestic and international tourists.

Officials said the event will also serve as a platform to highlight Kratie’s natural beauty, cultural heritage and the livelihoods of communities along the Mekong.

Hak stressed that the River Festival has become one of Cambodia’s key tourism events, promoting the potential of provinces along major rivers while supporting the government’s policy of sustainable and responsible development.

“The festival not only benefits the host province but also generates economic opportunities, encourages green development, and raises public awareness about cultural and environmental preservation,” he said.

He added that the event reflects strong cooperation among government institutions, local authorities, communities and the private sector through a coordinated “one system” approach.
