Cambodia in Talks With Oil Importers to Secure Supply Amid Global Price Surge
PHNOM PENH, March 9, 2026 (KPT) — Cambodia is negotiating with international oil importers to ensure stable fuel and gas supplies as global prices rise and Middle East tensions persist, Energy Minister Keo Rottanak said Sunday.

Speaking at a public forum, Rottanak said the government is in talks with companies from the United States, France, Malaysia and Singapore to guarantee continued imports. “So far, there are no signs of restrictions on oil shipments to Cambodia,” he noted, adding that the government would inform the public if circumstances change.
The minister urged fuel station operators to respect official price caps, warning of penalties and possible license revocations for violations. He stressed that ethical sales practices are essential to support the nation during volatile market conditions.
Officials said Cambodia could sustain domestic demand for about 21 days without imports, though supplies continue to arrive daily. Current retail prices, set by the Commerce Ministry for March 8–10, stand at 4,400 riel per litre for gasoline 92 and 5,150 riel for diesel.
