Female Workers Key to Cambodia’s Economic Growth: Labour Minister
PHNOM PENH, March 9, 2026 (KPT) — Cambodian women workers are central to both family livelihoods and national economic progress, Labour and Vocational Training Minister Heng Sour said Sunday.
Marking the 115th International Women’s Day, Heng praised the contribution of women in the garment, footwear and travel goods industries, which he described as vital to Cambodia’s export-led growth.

The sector accounts for about 55 percent of total exports and provides jobs for hundreds of thousands, most of them women, he noted.
The minister pledged continued government efforts to improve working conditions, occupational safety and gender equality, ensuring stronger protection and opportunities for female workers in the labour market.
