Cambodia’s EV registrations jump 127% in 2025 as green mobility gains momentum
PHNOM PENH, March 3, 2026 (KPT) – Cambodia recorded a sharp rise in electric vehicle (EV) adoption in 2025, with registrations surging 127 percent year-on-year, officials said Monday.
The Ministry of Public Works and Transport reported 7,971 EVs registered in 2025, compared with 3,508 units in 2024.

Officials said the rapid increase reflects growing public interest in environmentally friendly transport options, in line with global trends in electric mobility.
EV adoption in Cambodia began modestly in 2018 with the registration of a single vehicle. Since then, the sector has expanded steadily, supported by the government’s National Policy on Electric Vehicle Development 2024–2030, which sets out a roadmap for investment, infrastructure and ecosystem growth.
The broader vehicle market also grew strongly in 2025, with total registrations reaching 522,400 units – up 26.46 percent from the previous year.
