Cambodia Launches Second National Risk Assessment to Bolster Anti Money Laundering
PHNOM PENH, Feb 25, 2026 (KPT) — Cambodia has launched its Second National Risk Assessment (NRA II) on Anti Money Laundering and Countering the Financing of Terrorism, reinforcing its commitment to financial integrity and international compliance, officials said Wednesday.
The dissemination workshop was organized by the Cambodia Financial Intelligence Unit under the presidency of Chea Serey, Governor of the National Bank of Cambodia and Standing Vice Chair of the national AML/CFT committee.

Around 250 participants attended, including representatives from the Ministry of Justice, the World Bank, the Government of Canada, national institutions, judges and prosecutors.
Justice Ministry Undersecretary of State Song Chorvoin delivered a keynote address, stressing the importance of coordinated institutional efforts. The NRA II report, approved at the end of 2025, provides a comprehensive assessment of Cambodia’s exposure to financial crime risks.
National Risk Assessments are a core requirement under Financial Action Task Force standards, helping countries identify vulnerabilities and implement targeted measures.
Officials said the updated assessment will guide ministries and institutions in reforming legal frameworks, strengthening supervision, improving information sharing and enhancing asset recovery.
The launch signals Cambodia’s determination to safeguard its financial system, promote transparency and maintain investor confidence while intensifying the fight against illicit flows.
