PHNOM PENH, Feb 25, 2026 (KPT) — Cambodia earned more than $63 million from the export of bicycles and electric bicycles in January, marking a 68.5 percent increase compared with the same month last year, official data showed Tuesday.

The General Department of Customs and Excise (GDCE) said the surge reflects expanding production in the country’s manufacturing sector, which continues to play a leading role in driving economic growth.

Dr. Chhay Tech, a socio-economic development researcher, noted that Cambodia’s exports are rising across key industrial segments, including garments, bicycle production, electrical components, and electronics.

Cambodian bicycles are shipped to major markets such as the United States, Germany, the United Kingdom, Japan, China, ASEAN countries, Belgium, the Netherlands, Austria, Sweden, Denmark, Australia, the Czech Republic, Italy, Colombia, South Korea, Spain, Slovenia, and Canada.

Bicycle manufacturing has emerged as one of Cambodia’s most promising export industries in recent years, particularly to the European Union.

According to the Ministry of Commerce, Cambodia generated about $609 million in revenue from bicycle and electric bicycle exports in 2025, representing a 42.7 percent increase compared with 2024.
