Cambodia Ranked 7th Globally, Top in Southeast Asia for Working Abroad in 2026
PHNOM PENH, Feb. 24, 2026 (KPT) — Cambodia has been ranked seventh among the best countries to work abroad in 2026 and first in Southeast Asia, according to a survey by GoAbroad, a leading platform for international travel and work programs.
The survey highlighted Cambodia as a particularly attractive destination for expatriates in the field of Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL). It noted that teaching English remains one of the most accessible opportunities for those seeking work abroad, requiring neither fluency in a new language nor an additional degree.

“Most likely, if you’ve been looking for work abroad, you’ve seen that teaching English is one of the best gigs available,” the report stated. “This is especially true in Cambodia, where you can easily live and travel on a teacher’s salary.”
GoAbroad said teaching in Cambodia offers both professional opportunities and meaningful cultural engagement, allowing expatriates to make a positive impact while experiencing sustainable travel.
South Korea topped the global ranking, followed by France, Japan, Canada, New Zealand, Germany, Singapore, the United Kingdom and Ecuador.
The recognition adds to Cambodia’s growing international profile. Phnom Penh was recently named among BBC Travel’s “20 Best Places to Visit in 2026,” while Siem Reap ranked 13th in Tripadvisor’s “25 Best Cultural Destinations for 2026.”
Thourn Sinan, chairman of the Pacific Asia Travel Association Cambodia Chapter, said the recognition reflects genuine traveler confidence. “It is not a coincidence. Today’s travelers rely heavily on online reviews and digital platforms before choosing destinations,” he said.
