Cambodia’s central bank chief meets new UN coordinator to strengthen cooperation
PHNOM PENH, Feb 10, 2026 (KPT) – Cambodia’s central bank governor Dr.Chea Serey met newly appointed UN Resident Coordinator Vladanka Andreeva in Phnom Penh to discuss ways to deepen cooperation on economic development and financial inclusion.

During the meeting at the National Bank of Cambodia headquarters, Andreeva expressed interest in Cambodia’s economic progress and acknowledged ongoing challenges. She pledged to continue strengthening UN support for Cambodia’s economy, with a focus on improving living standards and reducing poverty.
She also committed to working with the central bank and multiple stakeholders to reinforce consumer protection in the microfinance sector, an area that has drawn increasing attention in recent years.

The governor thanked the United Nations for its past support and called for further cooperation to promote sustainable banking systems and improve public welfare.
In a statement posted on February 10, Dr.Serey said the central bank remains committed to acting as a responsible member of the international community, sharing best practices in payment systems, credit information, and regulatory implementation. She expressed hope that the UN will continue to play a coordinating role in advancing Cambodia’s sustainable development goals.
