PHNOM PENH, Feb 9, 2026 (KPT) – Cambodia and Saudi Arabia are stepping up efforts to strengthen tourism and investment ties, with talks focusing on the possible launch of direct flights and expanded business cooperation to boost two-way travel.

The discussions took place Sunday at the Ministry of Tourism in Phnom Penh between Tourism Minister Huot Hak and a delegation from the Saudi Arabia–Cambodia Business Council, led by Chairman Waleed Nasser Alshehri. The visit followed earlier engagements during the 26th General Assembly of UN Tourism in Riyadh last November.

Welcoming the delegation, Hak highlighted Cambodia’s peace, political stability, and investor-friendly policies, while promoting the country’s cultural heritage and natural attractions as safe and diverse draws for international visitors.

He stressed that stronger air connectivity—particularly direct flights—would be key to unlocking tourism flows and business exchanges.

Alshehri thanked the minister for the warm reception and outlined the Council’s initiatives to expand trade partnerships, promote tourism, and identify investment opportunities in Cambodia.

Both sides agreed the meeting would pave the way for future visits by larger Saudi business delegations, including prominent leaders from multiple sectors. Officials said the talks opened positive prospects for increased investment in Cambodia’s tourism industry and joint promotion efforts to attract more Saudi travelers to the Kingdom.
