Tourism Minister Calls for Unity as 2,000 Stakeholders Chart Cambodia’s 2026 Tourism Path
PHNOM PENH, Feb 5, 2026 (KPT) — Cambodia’s tourism sector wrapped up a two-day national conference on Wednesday with a strong appeal for unity, cooperation and peace as the foundation for future growth.
Tourism Minister Huot Hak presided over the closing ceremony, congratulating participants on the achievements of the 2025 agenda and outlining strategic priorities for 2026.

The gathering brought together some 2,000 stakeholders — including senior government officials, provincial deputy governors, tourism associations, private sector leaders, investors, tour operators, community-based tourism representatives, media and influencers such as Kevin Smith — both in person and online.
Hak hailed the sector’s progress as the product of “diligence, pragmatism and solidarity under the umbrella of peace,” stressing that sustainable tourism cannot be separated from national stability.
Delegates discussed nine thematic areas, reviewing progress, identifying challenges and proposing measures to strengthen the industry’s resilience amid shifting national, regional and global contexts.
The minister underscored the importance of collective engagement and inclusivity, citing the vision of “Leaving No One and No Place Behind.” He reaffirmed the sector’s support for the policies of Prime Minister Hun Manet’s government and the guidance of former premier Hun Sen in safeguarding peace and stability.
Hak expressed gratitude to the country’s leadership, development partners, diplomatic missions, local administrations, media and the public for their contributions to tourism. He urged participants to translate the conference’s momentum into concrete action within their institutions.
“With firm confidence and optimism, Cambodia’s tourism sector will open a new chapter of cooperation — united in solidarity and strengthened in internal unity — to steer the industry toward new achievements that serve the national interest and enhance prosperity for communities nationwide,” he said.
