Air Cambodia Places First Boeing Order to Boost Global Connectivity

PHNOM PENH, Feb 4, 2026 (KPT) — Cambodia’s national flag carrier Air Cambodia has placed its first order with U.S. aerospace giant Boeing for 20 Boeing 737 8 (737 MAX) aircraft, in a move aimed at strengthening the Kingdom’s links with global destinations.

The agreement was announced Wednesday at the Singapore Airshow, marking the first time the airline has ordered aircraft from Boeing.

Air Cambodia chief executive David Zhan said the investment was not only about expanding fleet size but also about connecting Cambodia more strongly to the world. “The 737 8 offers an excellent balance of range, capacity and fuel efficiency, and will be a key driver for our next phase of growth,” he said.

In January, Civil Aviation Minister Mao Havannall visited Boeing’s Seattle facilities to reinforce cooperation and ensure future operations of the aircraft comply with international safety and airworthiness standards.

Officials said the introduction of the 737 MAX will support Cambodia’s fast growing aviation sector, which plays a vital role in tourism and trade.

Civil aviation data show Cambodia handled nearly seven million passengers in 2025, up 12 percent from the previous year, with flight movements rising 11 percent and air cargo increasing 21 percent.
