Tourism, Religion Ministries Sign MoU to Boost Religious Tourism
PHNOM PENH, Jan 28, 2026 (KPT) – Cambodia’s Ministries of Tourism and Cults and Religion on Tuesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote religious tourism, officials said.
The agreement, signed by Tourism Minister Huot Hak and Cults and Religion Minister Chay Borin, aims to expand Cambodia’s religious tourism potential by diversifying events, improving infrastructure, and providing training in hospitality and tour guiding.

The ceremony, held under the theme “Cooperation in the Promotion of Religious Tourism,” was attended by about 130 participants, including senior officials from both ministries.
Hak said the MoU reflects Cambodia’s cultural and religious foundations, noting that tourism and religion are “closely interconnected and mutually reinforcing.” He added that the cooperation would help transform cultural and religious heritage into drivers of economic and social development.
Officials said the initiative is guided by principles of sustainability and inclusiveness, while preserving cultural identity and respecting religious values. The MoU is expected to strengthen inter-ministerial cooperation and contribute to domestic tourism growth, while attracting more international visitors.
