Laos Opens Land Corridor for Cambodian Farm Exports to China
PHNOM PENH, Jan 26, 2026 (KPT) – Cambodia will soon be able to export farm products to China via a new land transit route through Laos, following an agreement signed by the two countries aimed at easing cross border logistics and boosting regional connectivity.
The deal was signed on January 25 by Cambodia’s Agriculture Minister Dith Tina and Laos’ Agriculture and Environment Minister Linkham Douangsavanh during a meeting in Phnom Penh.

Tina said the mechanism will enhance the competitiveness of Cambodian exports by cutting transport barriers, saving time and costs, and opening wider trade opportunities for rice, cassava, fruits, vegetables and processed goods. He described the agreement as a milestone in Cambodia–Laos cooperation, paving the way for technical teams to finalize transit procedures.
Beyond transit, the two sides discussed cooperation in agricultural value chains, fertilizer supply, seed development, production standards, exhibitions and environmental initiatives including forest fire prevention and biodiversity conservation.
Both ministers reaffirmed their commitment to deepening cooperation to promote trade and economic growth.
Cambodia exported nearly 15 million tons of agricultural products worth about US$5 billion in 2025, up 27.8 percent from the previous year, according to the agriculture ministry.
