Cambodia’s EU exports surge 13.5% despite global slowdown
PHNOM PENH, Jan 12, 2026 (KPT) — Cambodia’s exports to the European Union jumped more than 13 percent last year to nearly $5 billion, officials said Monday, underscoring the country’s resilience as global trade faces mounting headwinds.
The Ministry of Commerce reported total two way trade with the EU at $5.87 billion in 2025, up 10 percent from the previous year. Exports accounted for the bulk, while imports from Europe fell nearly 6 percent to $863 million.

Garments, footwear and travel goods remained Cambodia’s leading export products, with Spain, the Netherlands, Germany, France and Belgium among the top destinations.
Commerce ministry spokesman Pen Sovicheat said the growth reflected sustained confidence from international buyers and Cambodia’s strengthened role in global supply chains.
“This expansion shows Cambodia continues to secure key markets and enhance its position in global value chains,” he said.
Finance minister Aun Pornmoniroth said the economy has rebounded quickly after COVID 19, even as geopolitical tensions and slowing growth among major partners weigh on global trade.
The government projects GDP growth of 5.2 percent in 2025 and 5 percent in 2026, with per capita income expected to reach $3,020.
Officials said expanding EU trade is emerging as a key pillar of Cambodia’s post pandemic recovery.
