Cambodia Earns $115 Million From Mango Exports in First 10 Months of 2025

PHNOM PENH, Nov. 19, 2025 — Cambodia earned more than $115 million from fresh mango exports in the first 10 months of 2025, a 1.63% decline compared to $117 million during the same period last year, according to a Ministry of Commerce report.

Ngin Chhay, director general of the General Directorate of Agriculture, said the drop was due to local processing factories purchasing fresh mangoes to produce dried mango products for overseas markets.

Chan Sophal, executive director of the Center for Policy Studies, noted that Cambodia’s mango production far exceeds international demand. While global demand is estimated at about 300,000 tons annually, Cambodia produces nearly 3 million tons, largely from large-scale plantations growing Keo Romiet mangoes.

China is Cambodia’s largest market for fresh mangoes, following a 2021 protocol that allowed official exports. Shipments to China have helped diversify Cambodia’s agricultural exports, with more than 200,000 metric tons of fresh mangoes exported in the first nine months of 2025, generating $108 million — a 2.63% increase year-on-year. However, exports of fresh mangoes have faced challenges due to oversupply, quality standards, and competition from processed mango products.

Industry experts say dried mango exports are rising sharply, with a 27.5% increase in the first nine months of 2025. This trend reflects growing demand in China and other markets for processed fruit, while highlighting the need for Cambodia to balance fresh exports with value-added production.

Officials emphasize that strengthening quality control, improving packaging, and expanding cold-chain logistics will be critical to sustaining Cambodia’s mango exports to China and ensuring competitiveness in the regional market.
