Cambodia, China Advance Cooperation in Metrology, Quality Infrastructure
BEIJING, China (Nov. 18, 2025) — Cambodia and China plan to deepen cooperation in metrology and quality infrastructure, focusing on upgrading Cambodia’s measurement and testing equipment, strengthening calibration and traceability systems, and expanding expert training.

Minister of Industry, Science, Technology & Innovation Hem Vanndy met with Luo Wen, China’s minister of the State Administration for Market Regulation, on Nov.17 in Beijing, China to advance work under a memorandum of understanding signed in April during President Xi Jinping’s state visit to Cambodia.
The two sides also discussed collaboration in food safety supervision, standardization and conformity assessment.
Following the meeting, Vanndy held talks with the National Institute of Metrology of China and toured its laboratory facilities to explore further technical cooperation. The institute provided three pieces of metrology equipment to support the Cambodian National Metrology Center.

Officials said enhanced cooperation will support mutual recognition of conformity assessment results and improve the reliability and international acceptance of Cambodian measurement data and certificates. The effort is expected to reduce technical barriers to trade, strengthen product safety and boost the export competitiveness of Cambodian small and medium-sized enterprises and industries.
