PHNOM PENH, Cambodia (Nov. 18, 2025) — Malaysia’s Firefly Airlines will begin direct flights from Kuala Lumpur to Siem Reap on Nov. 27, with plans to add two more routes by the end of the year, Cambodian aviation officials said Tuesday.

Sinn Chansereyvutha, secretary of state and spokesman for the State Secretariat of Civil Aviation, said the new service reflects the government’s efforts under Prime Minister Hun Manet to expand Cambodia’s air connectivity and support tourism growth.

Firefly Airlines, a subsidiary of Malaysia Airlines based in Penang and Subang, currently operates flights to Thailand, Singapore and Indonesia. The new Kuala Lumpur–Siem Reap service will run three times a week — on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays — using Boeing 737-800 aircraft. Flight numbers will be FY3520 from Kuala Lumpur to Siem Reap and FY3521 on the return leg.

With Firefly’s entry, Siem Reap Angkor International Airport will host 13 airlines operating scheduled flights. Airport officials said the Kuala Lumpur–Siem Reap route will further strengthen Cambodia’s regional connectivity and is expected to be joined by two additional carriers, T’way and Air Busan, before the end of 2025.

According to Ministry of Tourism, Cambodia welcomed about 4.3 million international visitors in the first nine months of 2025, down 8.8 percent from the same period last year. Thai nationals topped arrivals with more than 970,000 visits, followed by Vietnam with over 900,000, while Chinese tourists surged 46 percent to 880,000.
