Cambodia, Sri Lanka business chambers explore trade and investment opportunities

PHNOM PENH, Cambodia (Nov.17,2025) — Cambodia Chamber of Commerce President Kith Meng met on Nov.17 with a Sri Lankan business delegation led by Tilak Gunawardana, senior vice president of the Sri Lanka–Mekong Business Council under the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce.

The talks, held Nov. 14 in Phnom Penh, focused on boosting bilateral trade and investment, particularly in manufacturing, construction, real estate, energy, tourism and services. Meng stressed the role of the private sector as a driver of economic growth and urged businesses from both countries to seize opportunities for cooperation. He suggested Sri Lankan Airlines consider launching direct flights from Colombo to Phnom Penh to strengthen tourism and commerce.

Gunawardana praised Cambodia’s economic progress and said Sri Lankan businesses are keen to study potential sectors and opportunities in the Kingdom. He invited Meng to lead a Cambodian delegation to Sri Lanka in the future.

Founded in 1995, the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce represents private sector interests in trade, industry, services and agriculture. The Sri Lanka–Mekong Business Council was established to promote trade, investment and tourism between Sri Lanka and Mekong countries, including Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam.
