PHNOM PENH, July 12, 2026 (KPT) – Around 200 French companies are now operating in Cambodia, including 35 subsidiaries of major French groups, officials said, underscoring expanding investment ties between the two countries.

French Minister Delegate for Foreign Trade and Economic Attractiveness attached to the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Nicolas Forissier, told reporters that France and Cambodia are strengthening their strategic and economic partnership, with French firms playing key roles in transport, energy, finance, health, tourism, hospitality and construction. He highlighted Vinci’s role in building the new Techo International Airport.

Bilateral trade reached €1.75 billion in 2025, up 17.5 percent from the previous year, while French foreign direct investment rose 25 percent to €692 million by the end of 2024. France imports rice and bicycles from Cambodia, while exporting aircraft, agri‑industrial products and pharmaceuticals.

Forissier noted that President Emmanuel Macron will make a historic visit to Cambodia in November during the Francophonie summit, the first by a French head of state since Charles de Gaulle 60 years ago. He said the trip follows repeated meetings between Macron and Prime Minister Hun Manet, as well as audiences with King Norodom Sihamoni, and will further cement the partnership.
