SHANGHAI, China (Nov.07, 2025) — Cambodian Secretary of State for Commerce Samheng Bora on Wednesday emphasized the critical role of financial innovation in global trade during remarks at the 8th Hongqiao International Economic Forum in Shanghai.

Speaking under the theme “Propelling Global Economic and Trade Development Through Finance,” Bora said access to appropriate financing boosts production, connects markets, and builds confidence in international commerce. The session was chaired by Chinese Vice Minister of Commerce Sheng Qingping and attended by the Executive Vice Mayor of Shanghai, the President of the Bank of China, and representatives from the financial sector.

Bora highlighted Cambodia’s efforts to promote inclusive finance and digital connectivity, including the development of the National Single Window and CamDx platform to streamline public services. He also noted government support for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in accessing financing and adopting digital tools to expand exports.

Other initiatives include promoting e-commerce and cross-border payments through platforms like CambodiaTrade.com and partnerships with Alibaba, as well as the Bakong digital payment system developed by the National Bank of Cambodia to facilitate faster, more inclusive transactions.

Before concluding, Bora briefed attendees on Cambodia’s latest economic, trade, and investment developments, underscoring the country’s commitment to integrating financial technology into its growth strategy.
