PHNOM PENH, Cambodia (Oct.28, 2025) — Cambodia generated over $27 million from fresh longan exports between January and September 2025, marking a 16.42% increase compared to the same period in 2024, according to the Ministry of Commerce.

The growth follows a renewed export agreement between Cambodian producers and China Jinkwoayuan Import Export (Cambodia) Co. Ltd., which set purchase prices for Pailin longan at 3,000 to 3,500 riel per kilogram for the August 2024 to May 2025 season — slightly lower than previous contracts.

Say Sophat, head of the Pailin provincial Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, said the harvest season has concluded with strong yields and stable market prices. He confirmed that Chinese buyers have committed to purchasing longan directly from farmers at 3,000 riel per kilogram.

Soun Chhum, deputy head of the Pailin Longan Association, noted that the price is acceptable if farmers follow proper technical standards. “With good care and compliance, farmers can still earn a profit,” he said.

In 2024, Cambodia’s longan exports reached $28 million, a more than 50% increase over 2023, reflecting rising demand and improved export logistics.

Despite the absence of a formal phytosanitary protocol between Cambodia and China for longan, exports have surged through indirect channels and private contracts. In 2023 alone, Cambodia exported 17,000 metric tons of Pailin longan to China — a 454% increase over 2022.
