PHNOM PENH, Cambodia (Oct.27, 2025) — Cambodia generated $108 million from exporting more than 200,000 metric tons of fresh mangoes during the first nine months of 2025, marking a 2.63% increase compared to the same period last year, according to a report from the Ministry of Commerce.

Ngin Chhay, director general of the General Directorate of Agriculture, said fresh mango exports declined slightly due to increased domestic demand from local processing factories. These facilities have been purchasing fresh mangoes to produce dried mango products for export.

Dried mango exports rose by 27.54% year-on-year during the same period.

Despite the export gains, farmers have struggled with falling prices. Growers reported that the price of Keo Romeat mangoes dropped sharply to just 150 riel (about $0.04) per kilogram during the April 2025 harvest season, with few traders willing to buy.

Chhun Savan, a farmer in Battambang province, said she was forced to abandon her entire crop due to a lack of market access and buyers.

Chan Sophal, director of the Center for Policy Studies, noted that Cambodia’s mango production exceeds international demand by nearly tenfold, with an estimated annual output of 3 million tons compared to global demand of just 300,000 tons.
