PHNOM PENH, Cambodia (Oct.02, 2025) — Cambodia generated nearly $33 million in revenue from ticket sales to the Angkor Archaeological Park during the first nine months of 2025, marking a 0.57% increase compared to the same period last year, according to a report released Oct. 1 by the Angkor Enterprise.

From January to September, a total of 705,269 international visitors purchased entry tickets to the UNESCO World Heritage site, up 0.77% year-on-year. The park remains a key driver of Cambodia’s tourism sector.

Khiev Thy, president of the Cambodian Association of Tour Guides, said foreign arrivals began rising in July and August, coinciding with summer holidays in parts of Europe. He noted that most international tourists—about 90%—entered Cambodia via Vietnam, and that Thailand’s border closures had minimal impact on Angkor tourism.

Thourn Sinan, chairman of the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) Cambodia chapter, warned that geopolitical tensions and uncertainty along the Thai border could affect tourism and broader service sectors in the second half of the year.

Despite challenges, Sinan said Cambodia’s rising visitor numbers reflect resilience. “We cannot compare Cambodia to larger countries like Vietnam, which have more air routes, a bigger population, and wider global promotion,” he said.

According to the Asian Development Bank, Cambodia’s tourism sector showed signs of recovery in the first half of 2025, driven by increased arrivals from China. However, ongoing border tensions with Thailand may pose risks to future growth.
