WELLINGTON, March 16, 2026 (KPT) – Cambodia’s Agricultural and Rural Development Bank (ARDB) is seeking stronger international cooperation to modernize the country’s agriculture sector following talks with Rabobank representatives during an official visit to New Zealand, officials said Monday.

Kao Thach, Royal Government Delegate and ARDB Chief Executive Officer, met with Rabobank, a leading global agricultural finance institution, to exchange experiences in agricultural banking and explore future collaboration. The meeting was facilitated by Michael Kuy, head of the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce office in New Zealand.

Discussions focused on bank management, credit policies and strategies for providing financial services directly to farmers. Thach invited Rabobank representatives to visit Cambodia to gain firsthand insight into its agricultural potential and proposed a future memorandum of understanding to enhance information sharing and technical cooperation.

The talks mark a positive step toward bringing international expertise to Cambodia’s agriculture sector, helping boost productivity and rural development. Rabobank specializes in food and agribusiness financing worldwide, while ARDB plays a key role in supporting Cambodia’s agro industry and rural economy.
