Cambodia, Singapore deepen IP cooperation to drive innovation, boost economy
PHNOM PENH, Mar. 25, 2026 (KPT) — Cambodia and Singapore are strengthening cooperation in intellectual property (IP) to support innovation and the country’s shift toward a knowledge based economy, officials said Wednesday.
The Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation, working with the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore, has expanded collaboration to improve IP registration systems, raise protection standards and promote digital tools for businesses and innovators.

A joint workshop in Phnom Penh highlighted the adoption of electronic filing systems to streamline procedures, cut costs and improve efficiency, drawing on Singapore’s experience in managing IP under international standards.
Officials said the initiative aims to build a stronger IP ecosystem to help entrepreneurs, researchers and businesses protect their innovations. “Intellectual property is the backbone of innovation and economic competitiveness,” said Phok Sovannrith. “Our cooperation with Singapore will help accelerate Cambodia’s transition toward a knowledge based economy.”
The partnership builds on more than a decade of collaboration, including mutual recognition of patents and industrial designs, and capacity building programs for Cambodian officials.
