Cambodia, Bangladesh to deepen tourism ties with direct flights, joint promotion
PHNOM PENH, April 2, 2026 (KPT) – Cambodia and Bangladesh have agreed to expand tourism cooperation, officials said Thursday, pledging to promote direct flights, joint tour packages and cultural exchanges as visitor numbers between the two countries rise.
Tourism Minister Hout Hak met with Faiyaz Murshid Kazi, chargé d’affaires of the Bangladeshi embassy in Phnom Penh, to discuss new initiatives. Both sides reaffirmed plans to promote destinations in each country, facilitate online visa applications and organize exchange visits and familiarization trips for tour operators.

Discussions also covered roadshows, joint tour packages, and the promotion of cultural and nature based tourism. Officials highlighted Buddhist pilgrimage routes and heritage sites as areas of shared interest.
Cambodia and Bangladesh established diplomatic relations in 1993 and have since developed cooperation across multiple sectors, including tourism. In the first two months of 2026, Cambodia welcomed nearly 700,000 international tourists, including close to 3,000 from Bangladesh – a more than 60 percent increase from last year.
Officials said the trend reflects growing demand and underscores the potential for deeper tourism ties, with direct flights expected to play a key role in boosting connectivity and visitor flows.
