Phnom Penh Half Marathon returns with record participation
PHNOM PENH, April 29, 2026 (KPT) — The 14th Phnom Penh International Half Marathon will be staged on June 14 with organizers expecting a record turnout of up to 6,000 runners, officials said Wednesday.
Vath Chamroeun, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport, said this year’s race carries added significance as it celebrates the 90th birthday of Norodom Monineath Sihanouk, while promoting charity and showcasing Phnom Penh on the global stage.

A key highlight of the 2026 edition is the international certification of the race route, confirmed by global marathon authorities, ensuring compliance with international standards and boosting credibility.
The event will feature four categories — the 21km half marathon, 10km, 5km and a 2.5km fun run — catering to both competitive athletes and the general public.
Organizers said the race will also donate $5,000 to Kantha Bopha Hospital, reinforcing its role in community support.
Officials added that the combination of international standards, growing participation and social impact is helping position Phnom Penh as an emerging destination for regional sporting events.
