PHNOM PENH, May 7, 2026 (KPT) — Cambodia has launched its “Visit Cambodia in Green Season” campaign with a record‑setting 1,212‑kilometer international endurance cycling event around Tonle Sap Lake, aimed at promoting sports tourism and showcasing the country’s natural and cultural attractions during the rainy season, officials said Tuesday.

Tourism Minister Huot Hak presented medals to national and international cyclists who completed the ride, recognized under the prestigious World Audax Record program. He described the challenge as Cambodia’s first ultra‑endurance cycling event organized to international technical standards and a landmark for the country’s sports sector.

The ride was organized by the Cambodia Mixed Audax Cycling Club, which selected participants capable of finishing within 90 hours. About 100 cyclists registered, including entrants from Cambodia and seven other countries.

Officials said the event was designed to elevate Cambodia’s sports tourism profile and strengthen community connections as cyclists passed through multiple provinces. The initiative forms part of broader efforts to highlight eco‑tourism, outdoor activities and community‑based travel during the green season.
