PHNOM PENH, May 8, 2026 (KPT) — Cambodia has launched its first ever Investment Forum to strengthen investor confidence, promote business reforms and reinforce public private cooperation as global economic uncertainty rises, officials said Thursday.

Deputy Prime Minister Sun Chanthol, who also serves as First Vice Chairman of the Council for the Development of Cambodia, opened the high level gathering under the theme “Beyond Investment: Strengthening Resilience through Proactive Aftercare and Strategic Partnership.”

Investment Forum

The forum brought together government officials, business leaders, international chambers of commerce, private investors and development partners to review reforms, facilitate dialogue and highlight Cambodia’s long term economic resilience.

Chanthol described the private sector as a key driver of growth and stressed that improving the business environment remains a top priority. He cited ongoing reforms to enhance transparency and efficiency, including expansion of the “Single Window” mechanism, the Cambodia Investment Project Management system (cdcIPM) and the National Single Window platform.

He also announced a new “Business Co Creation” working group and infrastructure upgrades at CDC headquarters to improve investor support and aftercare services.

Amid geopolitical tensions, trade uncertainties and rising logistics costs, Chanthol said the forum would serve as a platform for exchanging ideas, identifying challenges and exploring opportunities. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to cybersecurity and combating online fraud, noting Cambodia’s new Law on Countering Cyber Fraud took effect on April 6.

The forum reflects Cambodia’s broader strategy to maintain a stable, competitive and investor friendly environment while supporting sustainable growth and long term partnerships.
