Cambodia’s Rice Exports Top $266 Million as ASEAN and China Drive Demand
PHNOM PENH, May 11, 2026 (KPT) — Cambodia earned more than US$266 million from rice exports in the first four months of 2026, with strong demand from ASEAN countries and China continuing to support growth in the kingdom’s agricultural trade, official data showed Monday.
The Cambodia Rice Federation said 469,909 tonnes of milled rice were shipped between January and April to 60 international destinations through 61 exporting companies. Exports generated US$266 million in revenue during the period.

ASEAN markets remained the largest destination, importing 177,761 tonnes worth about US$72 million. China and its special administrative regions absorbed 129,332 tonnes valued at US$75.9 million, while European markets continued to play a major role, taking 126,108 tonnes worth US$85.4 million across 31 countries. Additional exports to Africa and the Middle East totaled 36,708 tonnes, generating nearly US$33 million.
Lun Yeng, secretary‑general of the Cambodia Rice Federation, said fragrant rice remained the dominant export, accounting for nearly 59 percent of shipments. Long‑grain white rice represented 21 percent, while broken rice accounted for 17 percent. Smaller volumes included parboiled, organic and specialty varieties.
In addition to milled rice, Cambodia exported 2.68 million tonnes of paddy rice worth more than US$576 million during the same period, underscoring the sector’s importance to the economy.
The latest figures highlight the continued role of agriculture and food exports in sustaining growth as Cambodia seeks to diversify trade and strengthen competitiveness. The federation noted that Cambodia exported more than 940,000 tonnes of milled rice in 2025, generating over US$600 million in revenue, with ASEAN, China and the EU emerging as the three pillars of demand.
