Chinese Tourism Firms, Influencers Back Cambodia’s Visa‑Free Push
HAINAN, May 22, 2026 (KPT) — Major Chinese tourism enterprises and social media influencers in Hainan have pledged to help boost arrivals to Cambodia following the Kingdom’s new visa exemption policy for Chinese citizens, officials said Thursday.
Tourism Minister Huot Hak led a Cambodian delegation to Haikou City for a promotion mission highlighting Cambodia’s tourism potential, investment opportunities, the upcoming visa‑free scheme, and the “Visit Cambodia in the Green Season” campaign. The forum gathered leading Chinese operators and influencers under the leadership of Sun Haigui.

Chinese firms welcomed Cambodia’s decision to grant visa‑free entry for stays of up to 14 days from June 15 to October 15, describing it as a major opportunity to drive travel during the green season.
All 15 participating state‑owned and private companies pledged to intensify efforts to bring up to 500,000 Chinese tourists this year through joint promotions, packages and digital campaigns. Officials noted the group has already helped bring more than 300,000 Chinese visitors since 2016.
Sun Haigui praised Cambodia’s cultural, historical and natural attractions, saying the Kingdom remains an appealing destination for Chinese travelers. Minister Hak thanked Hainan partners for their support, stressing that the visa exemption, combined with Cambodia’s focus on safety, hospitality and improved connectivity — including two weekly charter flights — will make travel more convenient.
Both sides discussed expanding cooperation through familiarization trips, joint campaigns, influencer marketing and stronger private‑sector partnerships aimed at increasing Chinese arrivals.
