PHNOM PENH, May 28, 2026 (KPT) — Cambodia launched a new international tourism promotion drive Wednesday, unveiling the Cambodia Travel Match 2026 Mini‑Series to expand global market outreach and deepen cooperation between foreign buyers and local businesses.

Tourism Minister Huot Hak said the initiative reflects Cambodia’s proactive strategy to adapt to changes in the global industry through stronger market connectivity, long‑term partnerships and regional cooperation. “We are building resilience and competitiveness by connecting Cambodian operators directly with international buyers,” he told participants at the opening ceremony.

The event brought together around 200 delegates, including buyers from China, Vietnam and Myanmar, alongside Cambodian tourism operators and industry stakeholders. Officials said the programme aims to strengthen business networks and promote Cambodia’s cultural heritage, eco‑tourism, community tourism and culinary experiences to wider markets.

Hak noted the resilience of Cambodia’s tourism sector despite global economic and geopolitical uncertainties. The country welcomed about 5.6 million international tourists in 2025, while more than 1.3 million foreign visitors arrived in the first four months of 2026, including over 330,000 from China.

To further boost arrivals, Hak announced a four‑month visa exemption pilot programme for Chinese tourists from June 15 to October 15, 2026. He said the measure was designed to attract more visitors and accelerate recovery.

Cambodia remains a safe destination for tourism and investment, supported by political stability, improving infrastructure and stronger regional connectivity through Techo International Airport and Siem Reap Angkor International Airport.
