RATANAKIRI, July 8, 2026 (KPT) – Cambodia’s Senate President Samdech Techo Hun Sen has urged authorities in Ratanakiri province to strengthen cooperation with neighbouring Vietnam and Laos while improving public services and accelerating local development.

Speaking to more than 780 officials in Banlung City, Samdech Techo said the province’s strategic location offers opportunities to expand cross‑border economic and trade ties, ensuring the frontier remains an area of peace, stability and cooperation.

He called on provincial leaders to enhance governance and deliver services more effectively, reminding commune and sangkat councils to respond promptly to citizens’ needs.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen said Cambodia’s northeastern provinces are expected to become the country’s fourth major economic centre, driven by agro‑industry and mineral resources, contributing to the national goal of achieving high‑income status by 2050.

He urged stronger state revenue collection through improved tax and customs enforcement, and action against evasion.

On security, he pressed for continued implementation of the “Safe Village‑Commune” policy and tougher measures against robbery, drug trafficking, theft and cybercrime.

He also called for greater support to veterans, retirees, disabled soldiers and their families, including education for their children.

Samdech Techo further urged faster resolution of land disputes and stronger protection of forests and natural resources.

He praised Ratanakiri officials for their efforts and encouraged continued cooperation to promote growth, stability and better living standards for local communities.
