New Productivity Roadmap Launched to Boost Industrial Competitiveness

PHNOM PENH, July 22, 2026 (KPT) – A new institutional development roadmap has been launched for Cambodia’s National Productivity Center (NPCC) to expand productivity services, strengthen enterprise competitiveness and support long‑term industrial transformation, officials said Wednesday.

Developed with support from the Asian Productivity Organization (APO), the Institutional Development Plan will guide the next phase of NPCC’s growth while broadening services for both public and private sectors.

The roadmap is designed to reinforce the center’s role in promoting productivity, quality and innovation across the economy, helping businesses improve efficiency and competitiveness.

Industry Minister Hem Vanndy said productivity is fundamental to Cambodia’s ambition to graduate from Least Developed Country status. “To successfully graduate, Cambodia must strengthen productivity, capabilities and the quality of its products and services,” he said, noting that improved productivity reduces costs, increases output and enhances efficiency.

For more than two decades, NPCC has worked with APO to introduce internationally recognized tools and systems, including 5S, Kaizen, Lean Manufacturing, Cleaner Production, Knowledge Management and ISO standards.

APO Secretary‑General Indra Pradana Singawinata reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to supporting Cambodia’s productivity agenda, expressing confidence the roadmap will help transform NPCC into a leading institution driving productivity and innovation nationwide.
