MinebeaMitsumi Plans Further Cambodia Expansion, New Factory as Japanese Manufacturer Marks 15 Years

PHNOM PENH, July 29, 2026 (KPT) – Japanese manufacturer MinebeaMitsumi Inc. plans to expand investment in Cambodia and inaugurate a new factory as it marks 15 years of operations, signaling continued confidence in the Kingdom’s investment environment, officials said Tuesday.

The plans were discussed during a meeting between Prime Minister Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet and MinebeaMitsumi CEO Yoshihisa Kainuma at the Peace Palace on Monday. Kainuma briefed the premier on business progress, the upcoming factory inauguration and the company’s intention to expand further.

He said MinebeaMitsumi remained confident in Cambodia’s stability and investment climate, adding that its success could encourage other Japanese investors to consider the country.

MinebeaMitsumi first entered Cambodia in 2010, establishing operations in the Phnom Penh Special Economic Zone and beginning production in 2011. The plant manufactures precision components including ball bearings and motors, and has created nearly 10,000 jobs while contributing to technology transfer and skills development.

In 2024, the company secured land in Pursat province for a second factory, with operations expected to begin in 2026–2027. The new facility will run on renewable energy, part of MinebeaMitsumi’s plan to make its Cambodian operations carbon‑neutral.

Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet welcomed the expansion, saying MinebeaMitsumi’s success was also a success for Cambodia, and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to maintaining a resilient and competitive investment environment.

He highlighted reforms at the Council for the Development of Cambodia, support for small and medium‑sized enterprises and tax incentives for priority sectors. He also encouraged MinebeaMitsumi to strengthen links with domestic suppliers to deepen industrial integration as Cambodia seeks higher‑value manufacturing. The company will celebrate its 15th anniversary in Cambodia in December.
