PHNOM PENH, March 11, 2026 (KPT) — Cambodia has reaffirmed its commitment to multilateralism and outlined new foreign policy priorities after reviewing last year’s diplomatic achievements at its annual foreign affairs conference.

The two-day meeting, held March 5–6 and chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Prak Sokhonn, brought together ambassadors, mission heads and senior officials to assess 2025 results and chart the country’s diplomatic course for 2026.

Prak Sokhonn said Cambodia had strengthened its role as a “proactive and law-abiding” actor in global affairs, maintaining ties with 175 sovereign states and operating 46 missions abroad.

He stressed that a more assertive foreign policy was needed to safeguard neutrality, independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity while supporting peace and economic growth.

Closed-door sessions examined global political shifts and their implications for Cambodia, with discussions focusing on expanding economic diplomacy and reforming the ministry to boost human resources and operational capacity.

Looking ahead, Sokhonn said Cambodia would push for peaceful resolution of border disputes with neighbors under international law and existing agreements, while deepening engagement in multilateral forums.

The foreign minister also awarded decorations to officials in recognition of their contributions to Cambodia’s diplomacy.
