Deputy PM Sar Sokha Urges High Standards for Police, Prison Graduates

PHNOM PENH, Mar. 10, 2026 (KPT) — Interior Minister Sar Sokha has called on graduates of the Cambodian Police Academy to uphold high standards of ethics, discipline, and public service as they begin their careers, stressing the importance of modernization and accountability in the country’s security forces.
Speaking at a graduation ceremony on March 9, Sokha praised reforms at the academy, noting that instructors are now highly qualified to train police and prison officers to meet modern professional standards.
Updated curricula and training programs have been introduced, incorporating new techniques and reflecting current social realities.
He said some officers and students have been sent abroad to gain experience and adopt advanced technologies, adding that within five years, ongoing modernization will produce a new generation of highly skilled graduates.
Sokha urged police commissioners to provide clear guidance to new recruits before assignment, and encouraged the academy to continue its Digital Academy Plan to address cybercrime and technology based fraud.
This year, 207 students completed bachelor’s degrees for police and prison officers, while 100 received advanced certificates.
Sokha called on all graduates to apply their knowledge effectively, uphold professional ethics, and continue self learning, stressing the academy’s motto: “Quality training builds capable forces.”
