PHNOM PENH, March 7, 2026 (KPT) – Prime Minister Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet has issued a royal letter marking the 115th International Women’s Day, stressing the role of women in peace, security and national development.

Under the theme “Peace and Security for Women and Families,” Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet and his spouse paid tribute to Queen Norodom Monineath Sihanouk and King Norodom Sihamoni for their commitment to the welfare of Cambodian citizens, especially women and girls.

The premier said peace and security are essential for families to live in well-being and happiness, and highlighted women’s central role in sustaining peace at household, community, national and international levels.

He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to gender equality, citing efforts to boost women’s participation in education, health, the economy, public leadership and peacebuilding.

The letter acknowledged contributions from the Ministry of Women’s Affairs, the National Council for Women, civil society, the private sector and development partners in advancing women’s rights and empowerment.

Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet also noted Cambodia’s role in UN peacekeeping missions, with 10,447 personnel deployed since 2006, including 990 women, underscoring their contribution to global peace efforts.

He called on citizens and families to support women’s full engagement in peace and development, saying their involvement is vital for sustainable social and economic progress.

The letter concluded with blessings for the King and Queen, wishing them continued health and guidance for the nation.
