PHNOM PENH, 28 February 2026 (KPT)– Louise Mushikiwabo, secretary-general of the International Organization of La Francophonie, will pay a working visit to Cambodia from 1 to 4 March, the foreign ministry said Friday.

Invited by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Prak Sokhonn, Mushikiwabo will hold a series of high-level meetings, including courtesy calls on Senate President Hun Sen, Prime Minister Hun Manet and National Assembly First Vice-President Cheam Yeap.

She will also meet Prak Sokhonn to review preparations for the 20th Francophonie Summit, scheduled for 15–16 November in Phnom Penh.

The gathering is expected to carry “significant importance” for Cambodia and the wider Francophone community.

The visit highlights ongoing cooperation between Cambodia and the Francophonie, aimed at strengthening ties across the Asia-Pacific region.

Cambodia, which joined the Francophonie as an observer in 1991 and became a full member in 1993, will host the biennial summit for the first time.

The event brings together heads of state and government from member countries to discuss political, cultural, economic and development issues.
