PHNOM PENH, Feb 26, 2026 (KPT) – Cambodia’s Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training said domestic employment rose significantly in 2025 compared with the previous year.

Labour Minister Heng Sour reported that the number of employed people reached about 10.7 million, an increase of roughly 800,000 from 2024. Of these, 2.8 million worked in agriculture, three million in industry and 4.9 million in services.

Speaking at the ministry’s annual review conference in Phnom Penh, Sour also noted growth in registered enterprises. A total of 46,649 businesses were registered in 2025, up 1,851 from the previous year, employing about 2.2 million workers – an increase of more than 400,000.

The ministry introduced measures to address employment challenges, including a 24 hour hotline, a “Khmer Helping Khmer Find Jobs” campaign, job search tools via Telegram, and forums on employment, social security and vocational training.

Sour said around 620,000 migrant workers returning from Thailand in 2025 had secured jobs, helping meet domestic labour demand.

He credited coordinated efforts by officials, employers and partners, stressing resilience despite global economic uncertainty.
