PHNOM PENH, Feb 10, 2026 (KPT) – Prime Minister Hun Manet has reaffirmed Cambodia’s commitment to resolving border tensions with Thailand through peaceful means, saying the government will never pursue a solution “that involves bloodshed.”

Speaking at a ceremony honouring top scoring students in national exams, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet pointed to the ceasefire agreed at the General Border Committee meeting on December 27, stressing that dialogue and restraint remain the government’s firm stance.

He said the GBC framework is the agreed mechanism to address border demarcation, though progress has been delayed by Thailand’s ongoing general election.

“We hope the GBC framework will resume and that the border issue can be resolved peacefully, ensuring the safety of the people and lasting peace between the two nations,” Samdech Thipadei said.

The Interior Ministry reported that more than 86,000 people remain displaced despite the ceasefire, with schools and health facilities still closed in Oddar Meanchey, Banteay Meanchey and Preah Vihear provinces.

Officials said nearly 560,000 displaced residents have returned home, but essential services remain disrupted.

Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet pledged to continue working for stability along the frontier, urging citizens to maintain unity and confidence in the government’s diplomatic efforts.
