Cambodia and Australia Strengthen Ties in Bilateral Meeting
PHNOM PENH, Feb 6, 2026 (KPT) – Cambodia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Prak Sokhonn held talks Thursday with Australian Ambassador Derek Yip at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, praising the “long-standing relationship” between the two nations and describing Australia as a trusted partner.
Prak highlighted cooperation in trade, investment, defence, education and people-to-people exchanges, and stressed the importance of high-level engagements and regular Senior Officials’ Talks as key mechanisms to deepen ties.
Yip commended Cambodia’s efforts to combat online scams and reaffirmed his commitment to work with local institutions to achieve tangible results during his tenure.
Prak also briefed the ambassador on recent developments along the Cambodia–Thailand border, reiterating Cambodia’s commitment to maintaining the ceasefire and avoiding actions that could cause casualties.
The meeting underscored ongoing efforts by both countries to strengthen diplomatic and practical cooperation.
